Robyn and Christian

Robyn Beckwith (Molecular & Cell Biology)
Robyn is a Ph.D. student in Molecular and Cell Biology, with an emphasis in Biochemistry, Biophysics and Structural Biology. She studies how a molecular machine, the 26S proteasome, captures the energy of ATP hydrolysis to drive mechanical protein unfolding and destruction in eukaryotic cells.  In her spare time, she enjoys being outdoors, cooking, baking, backpacking and hiking, snowboarding, trying as many beers as possible, and meeting new people.
Christian Di Sanzo (Nuclear Engineering)
Christian is a Ph.D. student in Nuclear Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. He graduated summa cum laude in 2007 with a Specialized Degree in Energy Engineering from the University of Bologna. Before joining Berkeley, he obtained a Master degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2009 from UCLA, working at the Fusion Science and Technology Center on fusion-fission hybrid reactors. His current research is focused on Breed and Burn (B&B) Reactor Design. He enjoys cooking, organizing events and watching TV-shows.
